Statement of Senator Jack Reed on the 5th Anniversary of the Station Nightclub Fire
WEST WARWICK, RI -- Marking the five year anniversary of the tragic Station Nightclub fire, which took the lives of 100 people and injured many more, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), issued the following statement:
"February 20th is a painful day in Rhode Island's history. Tonight we mourn the loss of 100 Rhode Islanders whose lives were cut short by a tragedy. We also remember those who were injured in the fire and those whose lives were forever changed.
"Tonight is a time to reflect on the courage of those who sought to save the victims: the brave and dedicated firemen, medical personnel, and ordinary citizens who did everything they could to help.
"We must also recognize the Station Fire victims, survivors, and family members who have worked tirelessly to ensure that this never happens again. Their passion and determination has helped make our state safer and a better place to live."
