WASHINGTON, DC ­– U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Jack Reed (D-RI), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following joint statement after the release of video showing the brutal murder of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL):

“We condemn the barbaric murder of Lieutenant Muath al-Kasasbeh at the hands of ISIL, and express our deepest condolences to his family, the Jordanian Armed Forces, and the people of Jordan.  This heinous crime reinforces our resolve to stand with Jordan and our coalition partners to defeat ISIL.”
