Reed Wants Comprehensive Immigration Reform
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, after a bipartisan group of U.S. senators released the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013, U.S. Senator Jack Reed issued the following statement:
“The time for immigration reform is now. Our immigration system is broken, so I am encouraged that more members of Congress are beginning to see the need to fix it, which includes providing a pathway to earned citizenship. We’ve got to make sure that everyone plays by the rules and is treated fairly. The bipartisan bill introduced today is far from perfect, but it offers our best chance in years to advance debate and spur Congress to meaningful action. Fixing our broken immigration system is an opportunity to strengthen both our economy and communities and we must seize it.”
