Reed Votes No on Mnuchin
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate voted 53-47 to confirm Steven T. Mnuchin for U.S. Treasury Secretary. After the vote, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a senior member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee who voted against the nomination, stated:
“This was another irresponsible choice by President Trump and Republicans were short-sighted to rubber stamp it. Mr. Mnuchin profited by exploiting a rigged financial system at the expense of working families. His economic vision may be good for special interests and the well-connected, but it puts the financial future of middle-class families at risk. I will do everything I can to prevent the Trump Administration from damaging our economy and bringing back predatory financial practices.”
