Reed Supports Pentagon’s Plan to Lift Ban on Women in Combat
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, after reports surfaced that Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta will announce that the Pentagon is rescinding a rule that excludes women from combat, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a member of the Armed Services Committee who strongly supports the historic change, issued the following statement:
“I applaud the Secretary for formally removing the ban. The reality of today’s battlefield is that all who serve are in combat.”
