Reed Statement on President Obama’s Call for Congressional Vote on Possible U.S. Military Action in Syria
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement after President Obama asked for congressional authorization to take limited military action to respond to the Assad regime's chemical weapons attack in Syria:
“The President's decision to seek Congressional approval will provide an opportunity for in-depth review of the UN report and other important information about the facts at hand.
"I continue to believe that any response to Syria's use of chemical weapons must be multinational in nature, limited in scope, and involve no boots on the ground."
