Reed Statement on London Attack
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, after several people were killed in the Westminster terrorist attack, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), issued the following statement:
“I join Rhode Islanders and Americans everywhere in condemning today’s attack in London and extending our support and solidarity to the people of the United Kingdom. We share many bonds and values and will continue to stand united with our friends.
“This was an appalling attack on innocent people. The perpetrator was hate filled, but those who rushed to save lives and stop the attack showed great courage, resilience, and humanity.
“Authorities in London are continuing to gather the facts, and we in the United States will continue to do everything we can to keep people safe. We must also keep our commitment to helping our allies and partners prevent and combat terrorism and stop these senseless killings.”
Senator Reed also noted that if Rhode Islanders are having trouble reaching loved ones in London and need assistance with the U.S. Embassy, they may contact his office at (401) 943-3100.
