Reed Statement on Election Results
PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) issued the following statement on Tuesday’s election results:
“It was a spirited election. I congratulate Seth Magaziner for winning by focusing on the issues and earning the trust of Rhode Islanders across the Second District. I look forward to working with him in Congress to create good-paying jobs, expand opportunity, encourage entrepreneurship, and promote peace and prosperity.
“Voters chose wisely and said no to millions of dollars in attack ads.
“Seth focused on substance and solutions over slogans. He didn’t play the lazy blame game. He listened to voters and connected with them and they responded. And I know he’ll use that same formula to effectively represent them in the House, bring their concerns to Washington, and get results for Rhode Island.
“I look forward to working with Seth to move the economy in the right direction and deliver for the people of Rhode Island. We need to focus on bringing down energy costs, health costs, and food costs; invest in Rhode Island’s future; and protect Social Security and Medicare.
“Congress has a long to-do list and I am eager to get to work.”
