Reed: President Trump Should Keep His Commitment to Testify Under Oath
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) today issued the following statement:
“President Trump has accused former FBI Director Comey of lying under oath. That is a very serious charge.
“Today, the President publicly declared that he himself is willing to testify under oath to dispute Comey’s claims.
“The American people deserve to hear directly from this President, under oath, about his charges with respect to Mr. Comey. President Trump must also be truthful about what he knows about Russian interference in the election, as well as General Flynn and Attorney General Sessions’ contacts with the Russians. The FBI and the special prosecutor are trying to connect the dots related to Russian meddling in our democracy. If the President wants to cooperate and speed the process along, he could testify under oath about what he knows.”
