WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Ted Kaufman (D-DE) will travel to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and several other countries in the region this week to get a firsthand look at security and political developments in these important countries and their impact on America's national security.

Reed, a West Point graduate who serves on the Armed Services Committee, and Kaufman, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, will meet with high-ranking foreign leaders, diplomats, and American military commanders, civilian personnel, and soldiers from Rhode Island and Delaware who are currently serving overseas.

This will be Senator Reed's thirteenth trip to Iraq, seventh to Afghanistan, and fifth to Pakistan. It will be Senator Kaufman's first trip to all three countries.
