Reed: Americans Should be Paying Close Attention to Today’s Supreme Court Hearing on Presidential Immunity
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments on former President Donald Trump’s claim of absolute immunity from prosecution. The justices could issue a ruling in the summer, sending the issue back to a lower court and delaying any trial until after the November election, denying voters a chance to hear the facts in court and giving Donald Trump a chance to torpedo the case if he is elected.
“Americans should be concerned with any potential delay by the court. Donald Trump wants unchecked power and the six justices appointed by Republican presidents seem like they could kick the can down the road to delay a decision on a rather important question as to whether a President can claim he’s above the law.”
