Chairman Reed Statement on Biden’s Latest Nominations for Key Defense Posts
WASHINGTON, DC – President Joe Biden recently announced several nominations to serve as under secretaries of defense, including: Michael Brown to serve as the next Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment; Ronald Moultrie to serve as the next Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security; Mike McCord to serve as the next Under Secretary of Defense Comptroller/Chief Financial Officer; and Gil Cisneros to serve as the next Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness at the Department of Defense. He also announced his intent to nominate Susanna Blume to serve as the next Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation at the Department of Defense.
U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), praised the nominees who, if confirmed by SASC and the full U.S. Senate, will serve as key civilian leaders at the Pentagon.
Reed stated: “I congratulate these nominees. They are well-qualified and once we get their official paperwork the committee will hold bipartisan confirmation hearings to carefully review each one. It is imperative that we have highly-skilled, experienced civilians leading the Department of Defense. I look forward to further nominations from the White House. I will continue working with Ranking Member Inhofe and my colleagues on the committee to ensure strong oversight of the U.S. Department of Defense and ensure our military is properly trained, ready, and equipped to meet the full spectrum of challenges and threats we face.”
