Senator Reed welcomed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julián Castro to Providence to meet with state and local leaders, public health experts, housing officials, and environmental advocates to discuss new initiatives to better protect children and reduce the threat of lead exposure in Rhode Island and nationwide. They also toured homes where federal lead abatement funds have been put to work cleaning up lead pain and other hazards that harm children’s health.
