Senator Reed joined with Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) officials and state leaders at the opening of the Veterans Memorial Drive Extension to two-way traffic in Apponaug Village in Warwick.  The completed extension is part of the Apponaug Circulator Project, a new roadway meant to reduce traffic and encourage a more pedestrian-friendly environment with greater access to shops, restaurants, and cultural events in the city.  When completed, the Apponaug Circulator will cover 2.3 miles of roadway, including 1,100 feet of new road.  Construction on the project began in the summer of 2014.   As the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, Urban Development and Related Agencies (THUD), Senator Reed helped secure a $10 million TIGER grant for the Apponaug Circulator.
