Senator Reed was awarded the Sea Service Award from the Navy League of the U.S. for his work advocating for sea power and the nation's sea service military branches. He also recieved the compass binnacle from the Sioux Falls Victory, a ship built in January 1945 and participated in the latter stages of WWII in the Pacific theater.
