On the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Senator Reed helped salute the valor of brave American soldiers who fought in the conflict.  Starting in December 1944, American troops stationed in the Ardennes Forest region on the Western Front of Europe defeated a last-ditch, ferocious offensive by the German military.  Over 19,000 Americans died in the fighting, which continued into January of 1945.  Also attending the ceremony were officials from the Rhode Island National Guard, the Rhode Island Department of Veterans Affairs, and local Rhode Island veterans who served in the U.S. Army during the battle.
