Senator Reed, a former member of the Smithsonian Board of Regents, visited the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum in Newport. In May, the museum earned a prestigious designation as an official affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. - the first independent sports hall of fame to earn this recognition. Through this new affiliation, the Hall of Fame will have special access to the Smithsonian’s network of exhibitions, education initiatives, research expertise and resources for use in developing new exhibitions, programs, and educational experiences.
