Senator Reed helped lead a ceremony recognizing the recently-improved resiliency of power and communication lines along Sachuest Point Road.  As of May 12, all 22 power lines along Sachuest Point Road have been buried and utility poles removed to secure the resiliency of the lines and enhance the natural beauty of the area.  The $1.23 million project was a partnership between Preserve RI, Aquidneck Land Trust and the Preservation Society of Newport County and was overseen by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  A senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Reed was instrumental in providing federal funding for the project through the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
