Senator Reed joined local non-profit Books are Wings at Leviton Dual Language School in Providence for the completion of the organization’s “Books All Year” program, a partnership between Books are Wings and schools in Providence and Central Falls. On the week of June 12, Books are Wings distributed a total of 11,000 books to Rhode Island students at recess in an effort to nurture a love of reading and stop the “summer slide” in education. The 5,000-plus children that have been a part of the program will have up 6 books to enjoy at home and continue the learning process during the summer months.
