Senator Reed participated in a panel discussion with Rhode Island business executives at Bryant University to discuss local concerns regarding international trade issues and the future of global trade. The name of the roundtable was “The Future of Global Trade for the U.S.” Topics at the discussion included the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and other existing and possible Free Trade Agreements, trade relationships with Mexico, China, and other foreign nations, the Trump Administration’s support of the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) and similar programs, globalization under the new administration, and what it all means for manufacturing and job growth in the U.S.
