Senator Reed was a featured reader at the National Education Association of Rhode Island’s (NEARI) annual Read Across America Day event at the Warwick Mall. The event helped celebrate the 21st Read Across America Day, held each year on the birthday of the beloved children’s author Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.
The day celebrates Dr. Seuss’s efforts to make reading fun for kids of all ages and encourages a love of books, reading, and lifelong learning in children. As in previous years, Senator Reed and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) co-authored a Senate resolution declaring March 2nd as Read Across America Day. This year’s resolution emphasized the diversity of children’s authors and the importance of children seeing themselves in literature.
