Senator Reed joined U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Curt Spalding and others to announce the recipients of $4.6 million in eight federal grants focused on coastal watershed efforts in southeast Rhode Island and Massachusetts, funded through EPA’s Southeast New England Program (SNEP).  The grants will fund regional efforts in areas such as water monitoring, watershed planning, nutrient and/or septic management, and resilience to climate change.  Senator Reed, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, led efforts to establish and fund the SNEP for Coastal Watershed Restoration and included $7 million for the program in the fiscal year 2016 omnibus package.
