The Rhode Island Congressional Delegation met with local federal employees to call on President Trump to reopen the federal government. Representatives from unions representing TSA officers and air traffic controllers discussed the hardships faced by employees who are still required to come to work even while they are not being paid. House Democrats have passed bills to open closed agencies including the TSA and FAA, but they have been ignored by the President. As of this past Saturday, the government shutdown is the longest on record.
