Senator Reed joined the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and NBC 10 for a "Skin Check" kickoff event in which beachgoers were able to access free skin cancer screenings, learn about risk factors for skin cancer and hear advice on precautionary measures. The event was the first of multiple skin check screenings that will be held across Rhode Island beaches this summer. Senator Reed is a major supporter of the skin check campaigns and has worked for years to help people take steps to prevent skin cancer. In 2014, he authored the Sunscreen Innovation Act, a bipartisan bill to improve sunscreen protection, promote sunscreen use, and ensure U.S. consumers have access to the safest, most effective sunscreens available.
