Senator Reed helped break ground on a new intensive care unit at the Providence VA Medical Center. The new 10,000-square-foot ICU is expected to be complete by July 2017. With the addition of nine inpatient care units, as well as state-of-the-art nurse stations and consultation rooms, the VA Medical Center is taking steps to provide the most advanced care available to local veterans. As a member of the Appropriations subcommittee that oversees VA funding, Senator Reed helped include $163 billion for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in the fiscal 2016 omnibus appropriations bill that was signed into law.
