Internships

sealThank you for your interest in my office's internship program.

Students interning for Senator Reed will have the opportunity to learn about the legislative process and get a firsthand look at how the federal government works.

Full-time and part-time paid internships are available in both the Rhode Island and Washington, DC offices for specific fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions.

Due to the large number of applications we receive, our office is unable to offer an internship to everyone who applies. Interested candidates should fill out an application and send it in with a résumé and cover letter stating why they want to intern for Senator Reed and what they expect to accomplish. Preference will be given to Rhode Islanders.

Washington, DC Internships

Interns in the Washington, DC office will get an up close look at the legislative process and see how the U.S. Senate functions. DC Interns research legislative issues, help give tours of the Capitol, attend committee hearings, and provide administrative support to Senator Reed and his staff.

Rhode Island Internships

An internship in the Providence or Cranston office allows students to see how Senator Reed's work helps Rhode Islanders throughout the state. Interns assist in both research and policy initiatives as well as special projects and events. They also perform various administrative tasks such as greeting guests, drafting correspondence, and sorting mail.
